opened my eyes enough to see the light enough to see her the sun was bright through the blinds it gave her arms stripes like a tiger she moved the hair from my sleepy eyes her gap teeth shown bright in a smile "good morning, good morning, you're still here? good morning, good morning..."
2.
her hand on mine, she kissed me softly. "sorry, i have to run, i'll call you later, okay baby?" planted her feet and spun her hair cascaded everywhere, even blocked out the sun. i love you for so many reasons, this is just one. who are you walking through the door?
3.
hands over your eyes i know how you hate surprises but you're so excited put your hands in mine i will take you for a ride in the forest light your shaky hands tonight look so pretty in the night so pale and white i'll take you to the edge of the world you're not just any girl i'll take you to the edge of the world you're not just any girl you're not just any girl you're not just any girl you're not just any girl

you like the way it burns in the back of your throat when she says your name you like the memories of when you were happy because of how bad it became you like the way we kiss it's aftershave and cigarettes it's chapped lips and awkwardness it'll never be better than this you like the way i fall sound asleep for the night with boots and sweaters on you like the way i learned badly how to play your favorite jim yoshii pile-up song you don't miss us you just miss having someone at all i don't miss you truthfully i think i'm meant to be alone for awhile you don't miss us you just miss having someone at all i don't miss you truthfully i think i'm meant to be alone for awhile
5.
i'd wait on a mountaintop for you no matter how dark it got tell me all your secrets tell me about your demons i'm going off tell me all your secrets tell me about all your inner demons i'd wait in the dark just to see your face i'd wait in the dark just to see your face i'd wait on a mountaintop for you no matter how dark it got
6.
i'm sick of loving the wrong person for the right reasons i love you for you all of your mistakes your demons you're the only one who makes me feel right in my skin i'm the only one who loves you like i do so let me in oh yeah/oh yeah/oh yeah/oh yeah if you need a friend i'll be that but if you're needing love i bleed that i laugh each time you laugh can't help that it tears my heart in half can't help that cause i'm sick of loving the wrong person for the right reasons no one will love you like i do you're really one in a million
7.
i turned from friends to books and pens and stared into the nothingness words are cold and meaningless and books don't talk back any sense i tossed and turned inside my bed felt alone for days and days thinking about all the ways i could fight what's in my head my thoughts have shields and swords armor fit to fight me in my slumber soon they will outnumber all i have is defense as words i'll pile on all the blankets until i can't feel the pain i'll pile on all the blankets until i can't feel anything i'll pile on the blankets until i can't feel the pain i'll pile on all the blankets until i can't feel anything i'll pile on all the blankets until i can't feel the pain i'll pile on all the blankets until i can't feel anything i'll pile on the blankets until i can't feel the pain i'll pile on all the blankets until i can't feel anything
8.
we were blowing smoke out our noses, out our mouths it escaped with the laughs the windows were down but the heat was blasting it was the darker than we thought we could drive anywhere any excuse not to stay here we didn't need a reason we lived life without reasons we packed our bags but we left them waiting at the door then we started northbound now there's no turning around you held my hand as we held our breath and i hope this tunnel never ends
9.
funny thing when people say, "do you like this shade of grey?" you're gonna buy it anyway the price tag might as well be blank we're not going, to that bar we're not going, to that bar we're not going, to that bar we're not going, to that bar memories of better days dollar bills, berry sorbets dinosaur lanyard that you made never thought i'd throw it away we're not going, to that bar we're not going, to that bar we're not going, to that bar we're not going, to that bar
